I’ve been a Screen Builders customer for many years. Our home is 30 years old and we first used them after a major hurricane took the screens out. That was a relatively easy repair job and just required replacing the screens. However, after many years, the anchor screws holding the frame to the patio (which was installed by the original homebuilder) finally rusted out. Also, most of the screws securing the frame construction have rusted. As a result, the frame integrity was compromised and during the last hurricane, sections of the frame came loose. James, from Screen Builders, has visited our home twice to assure we have properly assessed the damage to the frame and know what it takes to repair it properly before rescreening begins. He took the time to look at each area, identifying sections that needed attention and recommended an appropriate fix. They will be doing a complete job to ensure the frame is capable of withstanding future high winds and then replacing the screens with the material we selected. That includes replacing the screws that are obviously beginning to fail and adding new reinforcement brackets making it like new. James showed the anchors they will use to secure the frame and explained why they were superior to the originals. He also explained the choices on replacement screens and even discussed the spline to be used. He examined our screen doors to determine if they were serviceable or should be replaced. We both agreed replacement is the best long-term solution. A little extra money, but it makes the whole frame secure. Even though I am a return customer and have been happy with their work, I got estimates from two other companies just for comparison sake. And while those other companies were slightly less expensive, they were nowhere near as thorough in reviewing the job to be done or convincing me they had the right solutions. So I made the decision to stay with Screen Builders again, not based on lowest price, but based on the highest value which I’m certain they provide. If you pay too little, you may wind up with something that doesn’t do the job at all. So not only have you wasted your initial investment, but then you have to go back and pay again for what would’ve been right in the first place. So it makes perfect sense to do something right the first time and not worry about quality or failures due to oversights or miscalculating the total job. It’s important to recognize that no company is better than its workers. Owners and estimators make a great impression, but it’s the guy climbing on the frame and installing the screen that really makes the difference. To the homeowner, the guy doing the installation is far more important than anyone else in the company. I recognize this and thankfully so does Screen Builders. Their installers realize their performance reflects on the company and a homeowner knows their performance reflects on the overall satisfaction. I always take the time to introduce myself to the installers and let them know how important they are to me. I want them to treat this job as my home, not a construction site and the staff from Screen Builders have never disappointed me. I’m looking forward to getting my patio presentable again and know it will remain that way for years to come because I’m making the right choice today. I’m glad I found these guys and I’m sticking with them. Just wish they weren’t so busy, but that’s because they’re so good.
