Choosing The Right Pool Screen Enclosure

When it comes to your outdoor space, there’s nothing quite like the luxury of a pool screen enclosure. Whether it’s to protect you from the elements, keep out bugs, or simply for aesthetic purposes, a pool screen enclosure can provide a great way to enjoy your outdoor space without sacrificing comfort. But before you invest in a pool screen enclosure, there are a few things to consider so that you can find the perfect one for your specific needs.

Consider Your Space

The first thing to consider when selecting a pool screen enclosure is the space you are working with. Let Screen Builders help look at the area around your pool, and take into account any obstacles like trees or landscape that could prevent the enclosure from being installed in that desired position. Consider any patio furniture arrangement or décor that you may want to keep outside, as this could enhance the size or shape of the pool screen enclosure. All pool screen enclosures must be permitted, and a property home survey is used in this process. Property surveys are in the house closing bundle of paperwork. Please try to locate your home survey for an accurate design and price.

Choose the Right Material

Once we determined the size and shape of your custom pool screen enclosure, the next step is to choose the right material. Screen Builders uses an aeronautical grade aluminum, as it is most durable and corrosion-resistant. Aluminum frame screen enclosures at Screen Builders offer the strongest aeronautical alloy frame with powder coat paint just like car bumpers. However, there are other options, such as screen mesh (18X14 vs 20X20). Screen mesh is measured by strands of screen thread in one direction compared to the other direction in a crisis cross configuration or 18 strands in one direction and 14 in the other “per square inch”. We don’t recommend 20X20 mesh since it doesn’t allow as much breeze through and creates more wind load if there’s a hurricane.

Hurricane Protection

When hurricane Wilma hit southeast Florida in 2005, it taught Screen Builders many engineering design issues. In 2004-05, the building code wasn’t what it is currently. It was weak compared to today. To make a long story short, today’s building code for screen enclosures demands much heavier frame which is what you want, because we live in a hurricane prone area. It’s not if a hurricane hits us, it’s when. Don’t worry about that since Screen Builders has an “exclusive removable screen panel” that is removed just before the storm and stored in the garage allowing the hurricane wind passing through. After the storm, take the panel out of the garage and snap it in for the next event. How cool is that? You have control for protecting your home sort of like shutting the shutters on a home.

Look for Quality and Durability

When selecting a pool screen enclosure, it’s important to look for quality and durability. A well-built screen enclosure with diagonal roof bracing can last for many years, so it’s important to choose one that is constructed with high-quality materials and engineered to withstand harsh weather conditions. Ask your designer about removable screen panels so you have peace of mind if there’s a hurricane.

Find the Right Style

Finally, it’s important to find a pool screen enclosure that fits your style. There are many different styles available, from traditional to modern “Open View” with no vertical upright columns. If you are lucky to have a lake view, golf course view or a view of a forested preserve in your backyard, you’ll want an open view. Imagine, as you’re sitting on your pool patio, there aren’t a bunch of vertical uprights in your view. It’s an open view. Let Screen Builders help you design your outdoor area at no cost. The proposal is free. What’s better than that?
